jewellery shop fitout in sydney
Borg Projects jewellery store fit-outs in Sydney are sleek, elegant, and delightfully surprising
Borg Projects were thrilled to be invited to complete a second jewellery shop fit-out in Sydney for AHW. After all, repeat business is the greatest compliment we can receive.
Last year we had the pleasure of working on AHW’s shop in the Strand Arcade. This time around, we were asked to refurbish and redress their current store in a heritage-listed building in the heart of The Rocks.
Many shopfitters and joinery companies steer away from non-standard shop fit-outs. They shy away from heritage-listed buildings that come with a range of restrictions and limitations. But at Borg Projects, we’re excited by the challenge. And we’re capable of creating something uniquely beautiful within any constraints that face us.
This retailer of uber-cool jewellery embraces their point of difference. They are anything but run-of-the-mill jewellery makers. Their products are edgy and hip, and their stores need to reflect this. For this reason, we steered away from the typical white, light, and bright feel that traditional jewellers often request.
Instead, we worked with AHW to produce a dark and moody backdrop that was cleverly lit with LED lights. The effect? Lights that allow the jewellery to sparkle. It’s a little like the stars in the sky on a clear night…spectacular and mesmerising. It puts the products front and centre so that clients aren’t distracted by anything else and are wholly focussed on the jewellery.
We work hard to create an atmosphere that matches a brand’s identity and attracts its target customers. The moody ambience in both AHW stores screams luxury and exclusivity.
Borg Projects created this kind of environment by tackling the job from the ground up. They installed step-up exquisite floating flooring throughout the space. Borg Projects also custom-made cabinetry from glass and Laminex nuance finish board in a deep, almost ebony colour so that the jewellery was easy to see and took centre stage. Custom cabinetry allows any client’s offerings to be highlighted in a purpose-built manner that can’t be achieved with off-the-shelf joinery solutions. The clever use of LED lighting scattered throughout the shop emphasises AHW’s stunning jewellery so that customers are engrossed from the moment they enter the store’s inner sanctum.
We can’t wait to continue working with AHW as they grow as a brand and increase their store numbers. And we like to think that we’ve had a role to play in the retailer’s impressive success.

We’re a family jewellery business and we were undertaking our biggest, scariest project to date! We were opening a shop in the Strand Arcade, Sydney CBD, and we needed a shopfitter that wasn’t just efficient, but someone who cared!
I sent out a tender and within minutes I received a call from Nicholas at Borg Projects. What stood Nicholas out to me was his enthusiasm and eagerness. He was hungry to work and that really appealed to me. Nevertheless I still searched out other shopfitters to compare. Borg Projects went above and beyond again, meeting me at the shop location, bringing drawings, ideas, and suggestions all before I signed him as the official shopfitter.
In terms of quality and build, Borg Projects amazed us all with their attention to detail and overall finish. We built the shop out of Paperock, with black finishings, strip lighting, and copper features. Borg was very helpful the entire way, transparent, and quick to reply. We had many limitations imposed by the Strand due to its heritage nature, like construction only to be done after-hours, and Borg handled all of this without a problem.
Overall we felt in safe hands throughout the entire process, which was very important to us. You can tell Borg was passionate about his work and it wasn’t just a job to him – he wanted to prove a point and make a difference. It certainly showed. Now our shop is in the prestigious IDEA awards for both Retail AND Colour! We’re renovating our second shop in the Rocks, and of course we are entrusting Borg Projects to handle it for us. We just began drawings now and we’re super excited to see it come to life in the next few months. Opening 2022 😉
Can’t recommend them enough! Thanks Nic and Sarah and the whole team 🙂
